British Royals: Charles and Camilla in Jordan

Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla spend two days in Jordan. The program is extensive.

The British heir to the throne Prince Charles (73) and his wife Duchess Camilla (74) arrived in Jordan on their first major trip abroad since the beginning of the corona pandemic.

Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Queen Rania received the couple on Tuesday in the Al-Hussainija Palace in the capital Amman. Charles and Camilla later also visited the place on the east bank of the Jordan where, according to tradition, Jesus was baptized.

Charles should also participate in an interfaith dialogue and meet with representatives from aid organizations working on behalf of refugees. During her two-day stay in Jordan, Camilla wanted to deal with initiatives relating to education for women and girls.

Charles is increasingly taking on foreign engagements for his mother, Queen Elizabeth II (95). His last major autumn tour took him to India, New Zealand and the Solomon Islands in the Pacific in 2019. The queen has refrained from long-distance travel for years. Charles last visited Jordan in 2015. On Thursday, the couple should travel to Egypt.
