The program of celebration of the 70th anniversary of the reign of Elizabeth II announced

Buckingham Palace has presented a program to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the throne of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain.

As part of the six months anniversary celebration, a series of events will take place across the UK starting on 10 January.

So, on Monday, a culinary competition will open, where everyone will cook a special dish dedicated to the reign of the 95-year-old monarch. The most interesting recipes will be selected by a jury chaired by writer and TV presenter Mary Berry.

In addition, on one of the days from 12 to 15 May, on the territory of Windsor Castle, a performance will be held with the participation of more than 1,000 people and 500 horses, dedicated to the history of Great Britain from 1558 to the present day.

The celebrations will culminate in the announcement of a four-day weekend from June 2-5, known as Anniversary Weekend. As part of the festive events in central London, a parade will be held, in which 1,400 soldiers from various divisions of the Royal Armed Forces, 200 horses and 400 musicians will take part.

On June 3, a special celebratory service will be organized at St Paul’s Cathedral in the British capital, and the next day, a concert will take place at Buckingham Palace, which will feature show business stars from around the world.

The upcoming celebrations will mark the first anniversary of the Queen without her husband, Prince Philip, who passed away in April 2021. It remains unknown whether the Queen will personally take part in the events.

Recently, information has appeared in the media about her health problems. In particular, on November 14, she canceled participation in the ceremonies within the framework of the Day of Remembrance (Day of Remembrance of the Fallen), as she pulled her back.

In October, the British media reported that Elizabeth II completely refused to drink alcohol on the advice of doctors. The Queen expects to celebrate in the best possible way the Platinum Anniversary (70 years) of her throne, which will take place on February 6, 2022.

On August 18, the health of the Queen of Great Britain was at risk after an employee of the Scottish Castle Balmoral tested positive for coronavirus. Despite the risks, the Queen decided that the food would be served by the attendants and the family would continue to go out on deer hunting and picnics at the estate.

Elizabeth II, born in 1926, ascended the throne at the age of 25, succeeding her father George VI (1895-1952). In September 2015, Elizabeth II surpassed the record of Queen Victoria (1819-1901) for the longest stay on the British throne, and after the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) of Thailand on October 13, 2016, she became the longest reigning monarch in the world.
