On October 21, Baldwin held an antique revolver during a Western dress rehearsal at the Bonanza Creek Ranch near Santa Fe, New Mexico. When he fired, the film’s cinematographer, Galina Hutchins, was mortally wounded, and director Joel Souza was wounded and hospitalized.
On December 2, Baldwin, in the first interview after the death of the cameraman on the set, stated that he did not consider himself guilty because he did not pull the trigger of the revolver, the shot was spontaneous.
