The Christmas tree in Rostov-on-Don fell due to a storm

In Rostov-on-Don, a storm wind blew down the city’s main Christmas tree. No one was hurt, the mayor’s office reported on January 14.

The tree was installed near the park named after Maxim Gorky.

“The head of the city administration, Aleksey Logvinenko, instructed to deal with the incident and conduct an inspection against the supplier,” the mayor’s office said.

At the end of November 2021, the Russian Emergencies Ministry was instructed to check the reliability of fastenings of all Christmas trees. The department noted that a poorly fortified Christmas tree can injure people. Cases of falling New Year’s structures, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, have been recorded in many regions of the country.

In December 2019, due to strong winds, Christmas trees fell in Ivanovo and Vologda. In the winter of 2018, the New Year tree also fell down in Barnaul. However, it was noted that there was no wind at that time. Barnaul residents assume that the tree fell due to the fact that it was poorly secured.
