Eight fishermen and two cars are drifting on an ice floe that broke away on the morning of January 15 near the village of Balagannoye in the Magadan Region.
As Izvestia was told in the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, rescuers from the regional fire and rescue center on a KAMAZ truck with an airboat and employees of the search and rescue team on a Mi-8 helicopter of the Khabarovsk Aviation Rescue Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations immediately left for the scene. 16 people and seven pieces of equipment were involved in the rescue of people.
An eyewitness on the social network said that the ice floe broke off in just a minute, not giving people time to save. Eight people with Nissan Safari and Land Cruiser Prado jeeps began to move away in front of our eyes towards the open sea. The person who filmed the footage from the scene added that he managed to escape thanks to a snowmobile that glided seven meters through the water, but still reached solid ice.
Later, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the fishermen were pulled ashore by local residents and firefighters PCh-10 of the regional PSC in boats.
In April last year, in the south of Sakhalin, about 30 fishermen who found themselves on ice floes tried to get to the shore on their own. In 16 km from the village of Okhotskoye, in the Mordvinov Bay, the fast ice was destroyed.
