Maradona mural inaugurated in an electrical substation in La Boca

The work was carried out with venecitas and was in charge of the group Command Maradona. It is 4 meters high by 2 meters wide and its elaboration required 5 working days of more than 18 hours and two assembly days.

Although 4 people form the central nucleus of the work team, to carry out this work 10 people came to work in different shifts. Kilograms of venecitas of national production were used from between 25 and 30 different colors, to be able to give lights and shadows to the work.

When Diego died in 2020, several members of the group “National Mosaic” created the initiative “Comando Maradona”, which proposed to inaugurate a mural per month in tribute to the star. They chose to do it every 25. Today they have already made almost 30 murals with the same technique. The latter, located in Galdós, is the largest. Some of these works are located on soccer fields such as the Estadio Único de La Plata, the Racing field and the Argentinos Juniors field.

Gonzalo López Lluch, who heads the proposal, summarized about the work and the work that it demanded: “It is a mega wall, a teamwork that shows what Argentines are capable of. Despite the dribbles that we have to do every day, like Diego, we always overcome them and move forward ”.

His friend and former teammate participated in the event, Sergio Goycochea, who recalled anecdotes and experiences with the idol. “Playing with Diego was the most beautiful experience of my entire life”, the archer summed up.

The general manager of Edesur, Gianluca Palumbo, highlighted: “Diego is very important: he managed to get out of the bottom and reach the top thanks to his talent and effort, going through difficulties. This is a way of honoring that extraordinary player who made many people happy “, remarked the executive, born in Italy.

The renowned Diego Armando Maradona Substation powers the entire neighborhood of La Boca, San Telmo, Barracas and Puerto Madero and has among its main users the Usina del Arte.
