Bayern Munich’s President Herbert Hainer reacted to the criticism pouring down on him from fan circles during and after the annual general meeting of the record champions on Thursday.

FC Bayern – Herbert Hainer: “We like to sit down at a table”

“The tonality has to be right, and that wasn’t always the case that evening,” explained Hainer. “We like to sit down at the table with our members – a constructive and fact-based exchange must be the goal of both sides.”

The bosses also blocked the spontaneous request from some fans around initiator Michael Ott to end the sponsorship contract with Qatar Airways, which is allegedly endowed with 20 million euros, as soon as possible. “We explicitly explained and justified this at the event: There was no legal basis, the application was not admissible in this form. The regional court had decided and made this clear in advance; the atmosphere was correspondingly turbulent that evening,” explained Hainer.

A corresponding application had already been rejected a few hours earlier by the 13th Civil Chamber of the District Court of Munich I.

Nevertheless, “the board of directors of FC Bayern has not yet decided by a long way whether the sponsorship with Qatar Airways will be extended. You can expect FC Bayern to fulfill an ongoing contract from a reliable partner,” he said. He also emphasized that the club would take the suggestions and ideas of its members seriously and incorporate them into its considerations.
