Men in single skating have shown that they can fight for the highest places, said Alexander Kogan, general director of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR), summing up the performance of Russians at the European Championships in Tallinn on January 14.
Kogan expressed his most sincere congratulations to Mark Kondratyuk, who became the European champion, and noted Andrey Mozalev, who made it to the championship at the last minute.
“He skated the short program very well. In the free program, of course, there were mistakes that did not allow him to climb the podium. He showed his potential. He showed that he can fight. It’s a pity that Yevgeny Semenenko could not hold his ground. In general, I am satisfied with the performance of men. They showed that they can fight for the highest places,” the head of the FFKKR said in an interview with Sport-Express.
Russian figure skater Mark Kondratyuk became the European champion in men’s singles for the first time on Friday, January 14. The 18-year-old athlete scored 286.56 points. Russian Andrey Mozalev was fourth with 265.69 points Evgeny Semenenko was fifth with 260.00 points.
On January 12, Russian Andrey Mozalev updated his personal record by performing a short program at the European Championships in Tallinn. The athlete jumped a cascade – quadruple toe loop + triple toe loop, quadruple salchow and triple axel. For hire, Mozalev received 99.76 points – this is his new personal record. After the performance, the skater took the first intermediate place.
