The reason for the freak was covetous looks that the younger man from Wels is said to have thrown at the girlfriend of the 23-year-old at Linz Central Station in the morning. The two men then arranged to meet in Welser Park to clarify the matter, the police reported in a press release. A witness to the argument ran up to a patrol car on Stelzhamerstraße in Wels and informed the officers about the gunman in the so-called gas park. With the help of witnesses, the 23-year-old was caught after a short search, he had previously hidden the weapons in a bush. The police secured the 50 centimeter long machete and the alarm gun and, after consulting the public prosecutor, brought the 23-year-old to the Wels prison.
